Should I trade in my SUV for a car?

I currently drive a 2000 ford explorer sport thats paid off. It gets about 17 miles to the gallon and is killing me on insurance. I just got approved for a 7500 loan and i don't know if i should get a car or stay with my truck? I'm worried because I start college in August and i'm going to end up paying double what I pay in gas now.

17 mpg is consider on my opinion a lot better. Most bigger SUVs and Trucks can't get close to 17 mpg. My 2002 dodge ram gets 12 mpg and thats how I went to college. If you want better gas miles per gallon why not sell your SUV and use the money for a fuel efficient car. Im selling my truck so that I can buy me a sedan with V8 engine like grand marquis, these cars can still give you 20 mpg
