I tried to play a blue-ray disc on my DVD player...?

And it only plays the intro, then has a blank screen. It shows a little download first. I tried to turn ont he wifi to see if it would update the software, as I'm guessing it's some kind of theft protection. Any ideas on how to fix it? The blue-ray player is a Vizio, and the DVD came from redbox. Thanks.

Blu-Rays are DVD's. I can't believe someone doesn't know this. My player is a Blu-Ray DVD player, and the disc I'm trying to play is a Blu-Ray DVD.

Which is it? In your opening sentence you say: "I tried to play a blue-ray disc on my DVD player ".
Later you say: "The blue-ray player is a Vizio, and the DVD came from redbox.". Which is it?

Your DVD player has to be a blu-ray player and please give me a model number so a solution can be found.
