can you use a home theater system without it being hooked to a tv?

I want to use a 3m cord from the aux in input on a home theater system to play music from my ipod and laptop. I'm looking at buying a Panasonic SC HT730 Home Theater System for my bedroom and I was wondering if I could just plug in the disc changer unit into the wall and hook it up to my ipod/laptop - is that how it works or does it need to be wired up to a tv for it to work that way? Never dealt with a home theater system so I have no clue.

Yes, you can because you just play audio, not video.
