Decrease in energy use for the average washing machine in 2008 compared with a machine sold in 2000, even as the average capacity of a washer has grown by 9 percent in that time, according to the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers' 2008 Energy Efficiency and Consumption Trends data for home appliances, released today.
