    Does this sound correct? "Damning it as the 'tariff of Abominations',

    southerns argued that the tariff..."? "Damning it as the 'tariff of Abominations', southerns argued that the tariff discriminated against them." It's for APUSH. Is the phrase 'damning it' acceptable?
