I have a video on my computer that needs Xvid to play it, and I downloaded Xvid and the video wont play when I click on it, how do I view it? To I have to somehow open it with Xvid

Well you can't open it with xvid obviously because it's a video format not a player.

If you want the simple solution download standard K-lite codec package on the link below. It will solve the majority of your playback problems.

Also if you're using a crap player like Media player, i would suggest switching to Media Player Classic (comes with the k-lite package) or VLC player.
