Can xvid.avi files play in a dvd player?

I have Wall-e and want to know if I burn that onto a dvd if that file will play in my ps3 or dvd player?
xvid.avi files play fine on a playstation 3. I burned the files onto a blank dvd, and the movie worked fine, so watching it on the ps3 is not a problem, but watching it on the xbox 360 or another other dvd player is.
