Verizon Phone (Blackberry) unlocked to Prepaid?

I would really love to get a blackberry on the Verizon network however, the plans are all to expensive for me. I've read that there is a way to unlock it and get a pay as you go sim card from tmobile. Does this mean i would be on their network and pay them the bill etc? Or is there any other way to get a verizon blackberry cheap?
