What is a good suv for a a first car?

I am getting my first car pretty soon and I know I want an suv because I feel much safer in them. I don't know what I exactly want yet and I want to know what is good and safe for a new driver and first car.

I like my SUV's mostly because i can see over the vehicle in front of me, unless it's another SUV.

I have a Suburban, which is very big, and a Wrangler, which is very small. I like them both but for different things. The Wrangler probably better for a first car the Suburban can be hard to park. My brother SWEARS by his Toyota Land Cruiser.

SUV's are more susceptible to rollover if you swerve suddenly. And gas mileage can be a drawback.

A pickup might be a good choice for you.

I'd have to say a Ford Explorer. Not too big, not too small, and are very roomy. I had a '91 4x4 and loved it.

I have a 1996 Honda passport. It's sturdy and gets me from point a to b in a flash. If you want the best out of your money, buy foreign!
