New Master Cylinder, Extended Brake pedal Travel?

Hello! We just got our brakes Master Cylinder replaced and the pedal is now solid and we can feel the stopping as solid.
However, the pedal almost has to go to the floor now before
it is solid. When we took it in, it was slowly sinking to the floor, but the travel of the pedal was only about a few inches. The new travel is scary and is just about two inches or less from the floor. We took it back and the mechanic took it our. he returned and said the brakes are solid and that the travel cannot be adjusted. Huh?? What is going on here??? The pedal NEVER travelled very far to reach that solid braking feel.
What can we do? what is the problem? he claims there is no air in the line, that it was vacuumed through, but it feels like the old brake systems when it had a bubble. Help!!

It really sounds like they need to be bled again. They might not have bled the cylinder itself very well. Lines are easy but when you put in a new cylinder it can be a little picky about being bled.

I would ask to see the manager or owner of the place. Of course the average mechanic is going to tell you it's fine and dandy.

Hope that helps.

its called spongey brakes it usually means that theirs air in the brake line the onlyway of solving that is to bleed the brakes.

if it dont feel right then take it back and watch them check it and drive it .... if that dont make you feel better then take it somewhere else who really knows what they are doing sounds like they didnt bleed it enough or you have bad brakes.... best you dont drive it no than you have to take it back tell them its not right would be best
