My 12 year old son didn't make the traveling team this year.?

Instead the league coach asked my 11 yr old and my pee wee 9 yr old to be on the little league traveling team this year.My 12 yr old is an excellent ball player but is not a strong runner.I feel he did not want it enough but,how do I explain this to him with out making him feel worse. My husband feels I just should say nothing but, I want my son to have to face the realities of life and not be a cry baby.I am I being to harsh?

    There's no crying in baseball

Its best for your son if he learns this as soon as possible.
