I want to preorder a Japanese Nintendo 3DS and I live in Canada?

Will everything work like a North American 3DS or will there be limitations (such as compatibility with North American games and Internet)?

Should I preorder it or wait for the American version to be released?

A Japanese 3DS would be region-locked to Japanese copies of games. Any games you have now, or any you bought later, would not work with the system unless you bought them from Japan and are marked "NTSC-J" as their region code.

I'd honestly recommend that you wait for the North American version to be released, as buying enough games from Japan to make the purchase worthwhile would be very difficult and expensive to ship.
