The activation code is tied electronically to the phone itself so you can't reuse one from another phone.

That's a rip off. I had saved the activation kit for 2 years no opening it since I was replacing my old phone hoping to use the kit at a future date. But telus website says "Please enter the Activation Code supplied with your Pay & Talk Starter Kit. You can find it on the first flap of the folded envelope that contains your Pay & Talk card". Could not find any code anywhere inside the envelope. that's explains it. Need to call up Telus.
