New phone with telus on 3yr contract?

ok i got my new phone last (canadian) thanksgiving the LG chocolate spin now the buttons aren't really working & the battery loses it charge very quickly is it possible to upgrade my phone for half the price of a new one Also all the telus phones are junk and only good ones are smartphones that are over 400 dollars no contract

i would though get an iphone though except here is my problem if i want to get an iphone i will have to

a) get a 3G phone from telus they are 3G now
b)convince my parents that even after buying a new phone i need another new phone
c)get an iphone
d)switch sim cards with the telus phone and iphone

e) done and have an iphone
any help??
the problem with my parents is that i'm on a share plan and they think i should be fine with my phone for the rest of the two more years i have :-( need a plan here

WARRANTY, take it in now!! It will be repaired or replaced. Replacement is at TELUS' discretion and the replacement will be another Spin. (Yes, you can get a 'loaner' phone while it's gone)
Your iPhone idea is flawed; TELUS does not offer this device AND they do not have sim cards.
