can you buy a rogers phone then ask telus to unlock it with them?

I really want a blackberry . and most blackberry phones on sale are on rogers. I was wondering if you can buy the phone thats on rogers then unlock it with telus?

Rogers uses GSM technology while TELUS uses CDMA, so it will not work. Also, TELUS will not activate a phone from another carrier. Read the sticky.

No, the Blackberry phones for use on the Rogers network are GSM, and are not compatible with the Telus CDMA network. Also, you can't get a sale price on a Rogers Blackberry without commiting to a 3-year voice and data plan on the Rogers network. Even if it were possible to use the Rogers Blackberry on the Telus network, it would still cost $500 to cancel the Rogers term.
