Why did Cingular and AT&T merge together?
I know that they merged together and changed their names, but I need to know WHY(what made them) they merged together. Its for a project.

Cingular was bought out by AT&T so instead of having the two names for one company (AT&T), they switched the name.

Sprint also bought Nextel.

Same for Verizon buying Alltel.
