T-Mobile service problems in a cingular phone?

My boyfriend bought a new unlocked LG CU500 (i think that's the model). It has cingular wrote on the inside of the phone, and the center select button is the little cingular man.

He still had a SunCom sim card in his old phone (Tmobile bought Suncom) and it worked fine. His old phone of course didn't have a camera or any bells and whistles and this new one does.

So he put the SunCom card in the new phone and the phone works but it wont let him send or receive photos via text. Only plain text messages.

We went to the TMobile store thinking a tMobile card would fix it, so they put a new sim card in and we left. Still, didn't fix a thing.

what's causing this, is it fixable, is it a setting we can fix ourselves or should we take it to Tmobile (about 45 minutes away)? I don't even think they would know how to fix it and the guy seemed pissy that we didn't have a t-mobile brand phone.

Thanks for any helpful, nice answers.

Since its unlocked and not made to be used on the T-Mobile network you are going to have to re-program it.

Look up videos on youtube and you should find some about it.
here is an example of what you need to do:
