Did you drop the phone, or has it been water damaged? If not, this is probably an issue that should be taken up with the warranty department. You should never have to reset a phone for it to work properly.
If you have had the phone for less than one year and it has not been physically damaged in any way, AT&T will send you a replacement phone, free of charge. The number for warranty is 1800-801-1101.
