I use Cingular (now AT&T) but I've not changed phones or SIMs so cannot knowledgeably answer your question.

I work for att. The plan you have is on that particular SIM card. Meaning, no matter what phone you put the sim in, you will still have the same account/names/billing/plan. If you are looking to change anything like what i mentioned above, you must get a new phone/plan.
