if your phone is usable at all i would buy insurance on it, and then use the insurance to get a new phone for $50

AT&T simply calls you when you buy insurance and as long as you can answer a phone call then you can receive insurance and use it the next day to get a phone

If your broken one is still under warranty, they may cover the charge of fixing/replacing, but that depends on how you broke it. Sometimes the warranties are only good for manufacturer's malfunctions. I would visit your local store and ask what their policies are, and ask them to pull up your contract to find out about the coverage.
