    I just got an ATT phone last night, and i DO have unlimited texting, but...

    ...NOT the internet. ? I was wondering if i use the instant messenger on my phone does that count as my texting, or is that considered the internet.

    Depends what application you use. Instant messaging by default is done over internet (since you're tailing with others on the internet/PCs) thus is charged as internet data transfer.

    If you want to be sure contact AT&T and ask, otherwise you might get a huge bill from them

    Instant messaging is billed as texting, not as internet data usage. If you have unlimited texting, then you can use AOL, ICQ, MSN and/or Yahoo as often as you wish, along with text and multimedia messaging, and you should not get any surprises on your phone bill. Email is charged as texting as well, not internet data usage (unless you are going online to check your email).

    Of course, you should call your provider to verify but this is the standard procedure. I hope this helps, and sorry you got some incorrect information in another answer above.
