I already have an activated ATT SIM card, will I be able to put it into the

IPhone 2 without a new contract? I know most Iphone 2 buyers will be signing a new 2year ATT contract, however I am already under contract and thus already have an activated ATT sim card. If I go buy a new Iphone 2 on launch day from an apple store will I be able to simply put my SIM in and use the phone or will I have to resign/extend my contract?
