Do I need to purchase a data plan if I am ordering a Blackjack II phone from ATT

or can I stay w/family plan? I am eligible for a free upgrade with a new 2 year renewal of my contract and I like the new blackjack ii but I do not want to add the expensive 30$ data plan, can I stay with regular plan or will the phone not work properly?
I am not buying for internet persay, I just like they way it looks. Will it work with regular voice plan? Will the gps feature work?

For full functionality of all the data features of the Blackjack it is very highly recommended that you go with the PDA data plan, otherwise it cannot be guaranteed to fully with the other Media Plans, especially if they do not include unlimited internet usage

No you don't have to, but I would get a PDA plan anyway.
