Cingular and US Cellular one company? Phone interchangeable?

Ok I have US cellular and I want a new phone, I heard that US celular and cingular have merged.
Can I buy a cingular phone to use on the US cellular network?
I have a US cellular phone but it comes with no SIM card, just built in.
PLease help me!
