Now I already know quite a bit about what makes a certain style sound distinct, but I would like to know more.

Example (obviously these are only generalizations):
Blues sounds like it does because of the pentatonic/blues scale, shuffle rhythm, chord progressions
Jazz sounds like it does because of irregular rhythm, extended chords

So that's all my analysis has come to so far. Here, I'm interested in knowing what makes Classical, RnB, Rock, Metal, Country, and Pop sound distinct. So far all I got for classical and pop are that they are played 'straight'; Rock uses power chords and extendeds(?).
