Thread: Questions on current trends in style.?

My girlfriend's mom wants me to wear very business-y dress clothing, the type that my father would have worn twenty years ago.

I want to wear slightly more form-fitting, "hip" dress attire, nothing too extreme or flashy, just comfortable and flattering to my thin frame.

What's the big deal with all this? Can't I be comfortable, trendy AND dress appropriately for a business setting/interview?

(BTW I'm 22 and a recent college grad in NYC.)

well i would think a normal white shirt and jeans look good just by them selves and will show off the figure

I think it depends on what type of career you are in. If you are in something more traditional, where most of the men wear "normal" business suits, wear suits similar to theirs, but change it up a bit by wearing brighter color shirts and ties. If you see that the guys your age are wearing the stuff that you are already wearing (more form fitting, trendy stuff), then continue to wear what you like. Either way, your girlfriends mom shouldn't be worried about it so much...unless you are trying to work for her. Hope that helps.
