I am having a fashion idenity crisis..is this normal?

I am 28...will be 29 this summer and I feel completely out of touch with current fashion.

I used to be very on top of things when I was in college and just after. But when I had my son, at 27, I started to turn into someone else because I didn't have time or money for fashion.

It didn't help that I became a police officer that same year, so most of the day I wore a uniform and when I was at home I preferred to lounge in sweats for comfort. I didn't go out much any more after giving birth, and my husband was never fashion savvy so he never noticed my decline.

So I'm at the mall tonight and I'm looking to update my wardrobe .....and now I feel so old and out of touch with things.

There are a lot of things out there that just aren't hot to me....

    Any suggestions?

I am 5'6" 113lbs, groomed shoulder length dreadlocks, I work at an elementary school now ( I don't want to dress like the teachers there though...they can be rather dress barny).

I like some of the punk trends....but not all the myriad of extreme colors. I love classy, timeless, sexy clothes with an edge.

Know of any websites or stores? Anyone with similar experiences?

Urban Outfitters is definitely the way to go. It's kind of edgy but classy at the same time. Good luck!
