Do you think that a certain portion or women are ignored by the fashion industry?

Do you think that women who are maybe a size 14, or 16, maybe even 18 are left out in fashion? Are there a lot of clothing lines or stores that sell clothing in these sizes?

I read this interesting article and thought that I would take this question to Y!A to see what everyone thinks. Here's a link if you want to read it :http://blogs.news.com.au/fullychic/index.php/news/comments/leona_sizes_up/P20/

I am looking forward to reading your responses!

Why yes I jolly do well believe this is a fact.
I am going to call it like I see it, Im not going to lie most people including designers think their clothing would look most flattering on a tall, slimmer model rather than short and/or chubby/plump.
All high fashion involves that type of model. Why they even have requirements for their body type !

Most stores do only focus on the "normal" sizes the most. The larger sizes they make always sell out last and very slowly, so why should they focus/target that area?
Plus size stores sell clothes especially for higher size woman [usually sizes 16 and up] but the woman who shop there often complain there is nothing cute. Not many tops suit their body, anyway and its tricky to find clothing that does.

I definately think alot of plus size ladies are left out. I went into a large shop in leicster that advertised plus size clothes in the window when we went over to the section there were a few ugly tops and some digusting jeans; walked striaght out.

I also think taller women are aswell especially in small towns, my friend is 13 and is nearing 6ft she can NEVER find any perfect fitting jeans.

I don't think so. Torrid (which is a branch of Hot Topic, Avenue and Lane Bryant) have BEAUTIFUL, absolutely stunning outfits for plus sized women.

more power to females, woot woot

I think it used to. in the last few years though I think the world has noticed, the majority of the world aren't toothpicks. Now were seeing people make fun of tiny girls, you have to be a minimum size to appear on the catwalk, and people are realizing meat on the bones is healthy

i think 14s arent but i think 16 + are, when i go shopping (im a size 12 atm as im pregnant lol! ) but yeah i rarely see clothes any larger than this, and often the clothes that are there tend to be not suitable like too low cut for people with big breasts or not enough material etc!
