how do you make a nextel 850i into a boost phone? I think all you do is buy a boost

Yes, all you have to do is buy a boost sim card. Any sprint/nextel store or the mall will carry them...called a 'boost starter kit'. And yes, usually around $20. You can also get them on craigslist or ebay.
