Before Landon Donovan's final match with the U.S. national team, USSF president Sunil Gulati presented him with a special gift. No, it wasn't a time machine and a spot on the 2014 World Cup squad — it was a mounted work of art that combined pieces of every U.S. shirt Donovan wore throughout his 14-year international career.
A total of 19 different shirts were used to create the unique piece, which was mounted on oak (Connecticut's state tree — the site of the Donovan's final match) bearing the names of all of his teammates over the years. The shirt is backlit with white LED lights and is framed by a redwood (the state tree of California, where Donovan was born and plays at the club level) shadowbox.
And if you want one for yourself, all you need to do is become the U.S.'s all-time leader in both goals and assists. Good luck.
