On Feb. 15, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested after an altercation with his fiancee Janay Palmer at an Atlantic City hotel and casino. The NFL suspended Rice two games for the incident, a suspension that was so lenient Goodell had to apologize to owners and strengthen the league's domestic violence policy.
The criticism of Goodell and the NFL seemed to be dying down until Monday, when TMZ released the full surveillance video of the incident. It showed Rice punching and knocking out Palmer (who he has since married). That has led to one of the most controversial weeks the NFL has had off the field in many years. 5:01 p.m.: TMZ says it reached out to the NFL before releasing the Rice video. TMZ says it never heard back from the league.
5:15 p.m.: Goodell talks with “CBS Evening News.” He says he never saw the full Rice video before Monday.

Wednesday
10:42 a.m.: Goodell tells USA Today that Rice’s account of what happened differed from what the full video showed.
12:03 p.m.: Michael Vick and Floyd Mayweather offer their opinions of the Rice controversy.
3:21 p.m.: With the National Organization for Women and Congress pressuring Goodell, he writes a memo to NFL owners.
5:12 p.m.: The Associated Press, citing a law enforcement source, reports the NFL was sent the full Rice video in April.
7:12 p.m.: Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome says that the story Rice told him and Harbaugh this offseason was consistent with what the video showed on Monday.
