Has Tim Tebow (left) influenced Joc Pederson to become a two-sport athlete? (AP photos) The jury is still out on Tim Tebow’s new career in baseball. The former college football standout, who went on to enjoy moderate success as an NFL quarterback, signed with the New York Mets in September and is currently plying his trade in the Arizona Fall League.
So far, Tebow’s performance has been underwhelming. In 11 games for the Scottsdale Scorpions, he’s hitting*.135/.179/.162 with 12 strikeouts and two walks over 39 plate appearances. His*determination, though, is commendable. To some, like Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson, it’s even motivational. To the point where Pederson brainstormed this idea earlier this week.
I miss football…can I get a tryout @RamsNFL something like Tebows? High school comparison Jordy Nelson #offseasonjob

He’s actually kidding. We think.
Then again, between Tebow’s baseball tryout and the NFL finally being back in Los Angeles with the return of the Rams, perhaps a new fire has been lit under Pederson.
He’d certainly be capable.*Pederson starred as a multi-sport athlete at Palo Alto High School, even earning his school’s “Male Athlete of the Year award” in 2010. And look here, his*alma mater even seemed to give him an endorsement.

As for the Jordy Nelson comparison, we’re pretty sure that was self-imposed. That would indicate Pederson sees himself as a sure-handed receiver capable of getting behind the defense.
Nelson, of course, has served as Aaron Rodgers most reliable receiver for many years with the Green Bay Packers. Worth noting, Rodgers was a standout at*the University of California, which is the same school the Rams quarterback of the future Jared Goff attended. So who knows, maybe a Goff-Pederson duo*is really meant to be.
Our scouting department is reviewing the film now, @yungjoc650. That cool, @Dodgers? pic.twitter.com/W8xS3Jr8SR

Well, the Rams are playing along at least. Let’s check in now with the Dodgers.

OK, sorry Dodgers, we’ll let it go now. But we won’t regret entertaining the possibility.
