ATLANTA - At long last, Tiger Woods got back below par. On a soggy Saturday at the Tour Championship, Woods played his first under-par round of the week. It wasn't exactly a gem — Woods went -1 on the morning and is now +3 for the tournament, ranked T26 in the clubhouse — but given Woods' abysmal first two days, the bar for "success" is pretty low.
Woods began the day with a one-over stretch through the first 13 holes. Like Friday, however, his game turned at 13. Unlike Friday, it turned in the right direction. Woods birdied 14 and 15, then played out the string in even par.
Here, via CBS Sports' Kyle Porter, is Woods' chip-in on 14:

There's absolutely no chance Woods is going to win this one. He's almost at the point where he could birdie every hole on Sunday and leader Henrik Stenson would just have to shoot par to keep him at bay. For Sunday, Woods said, "the goal is to go out and shoot a low round tomorrow and see where the chips fall." The chips are going to fall in Stenson's pocket, but it's good that Woods is sticking with the irrational-confidence approach.

But, look, don't feel too bad for Tiger. Even if he finishes deep in the field, he's likely to cash a two-comma check. At the moment, he's ranked second in the FedEx Cup standings, which would entitle him to $3 million. Not a bad payout for several days of middling golf.
