The first rule of baseball in September - consider everything tentative. Plans change, pitchers get shut down, teams do funny things as they prepare for the post-season or the off-season.
We've got nine games Thursday, the final abbreviated slate of the year; choose carefully, gamers.
1. Alex Cobb (@NYY): I'd trust him anywhere right now, even Yankee Stadium and that RF perch.
2. Dillon Gee (Mil): A longtime Arcade favorite, we're not stopping now.
3. Tim Lincecum (LAD): No consistency, but can't ignore the upside.
4. Trevor Cahill (@SD): Ground balls are ideal anywhere, not that we mind Petco one bit.
5. Robbie Erlin (Ari): Sneaky play, though Arizona has NL's best OBP in second half.
6. Zach McAllister (@Min): Hit-or-miss option but you want to oppose the Twins.
7. Ivan Nova (TB): A three-start funk before last week's gem.
8. Mark Buehrle (@Bal): Unheralded season but tough park for this type of pitcher.
9. Matt Garza (LAA): Another midseason swing-and-miss from the Rangers.
10. Jerome Williams (@Tex): Better than you think, but in Arlington? Pass.
11. David Hale (Phi): Wasn't anything special at Triple-A this summer.
12. Jeremy Guthrie (@CWS): Bloated ratio, modest strikeout count.
13. Miguel Gonzalez (Tor): Four excellent Toronto turns, if that matters to you (2.96/1.11).

14. Edinson Volquez (@SF): Unsafe in any park.
15. Andrew Albers (Cle): Needs a ton of BABIP luck to be successful.
16. Andre Rienzo (KC): With K/BB rate barely over one, cannot trust.
17. Tyler Cloyd (@Atl): Phillies can't end season quickly enough.
18. Johnny Hellweg (@NYM): Twenty-two walks against six whiffs? No thanks.
Possibilities for Friday: Corey Kluber, Andy Pettitte, Brett Oberholtzer, Burch Smith, Rick Porcello.
