Now that the holiday season is upon us, it's time for hockey teams all over the word to hold the single greatest promotion in sports: Teddy Bear Toss Night.
It's as simple as this: fans bring their own teddy bear or purchase one at the arena and when the home team scores its first goal, the teddy bears go flying. Afterward, the stufed animals are donated to local children's hospitals and charities.
The kings of this event are the WHL's Calgary Hitmen, who we've featured in the past. On Sunday night, they held their 19th annual Toss, which resulted in 25,921 bears hitting the ice.
Via Buzzing the Net:
The Hitmen weren't the only ones to partake so far this season. After the jump, a number of other teams have seen the fur fly.
On Saturday night, our friends at the Bakersfield Condors ended up with 7,477 bears:
The Rockford Ice Hogs saw 6,105 hit the ice after a Kyle Beach goal:
In Texas, the Stars ice crew had to clean up approximately 1,100 of the furry creatures:
Finally, via Capitals Outsider, Hershey Bears fans sent 12,890 bears flying:

Obviously the delay to clean up the bears wouldn't fly at the NHL level, but, darn it, we can dream that one day this promotion finds it way up there.
