Sidney Crosby had a great chance to snap his eight-game goal drought midway through the second period of Game 2 Monday night, but Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy had other ideas.
Not long after Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan reunited Crosby with Evgeni Malkin as the score remained tied in the middle frame, Malkin found a streaking Crosby with a great cross-ice pass in the Tampa zone. The Penguins captain got his backhand on it, but Vasilevskiy was able to recover and get the puck with his glove.
Crosby would get his revenge later in the game as his goal in overtime gave the Penguins a 3-2 win and evened the series at one.
