DUBLIN, Ohio — Rory McIlroy posted his best score of the week in Saturday’s Memorial third round, and afterward delivered a velvet hammer of sorts on the USGA in advance of the U.S. Open. One day after he barely made the cut to play the weekend, McIlroy shot an 8-under 64 to vault himself into contention entering Sunday’s final round. For McIlroy, it all came as a pleasant surprise. “Honestly, I was just happy to be here, [to] get in another couple of rounds before going to the U.S. Open,” McIlroy said. “I really just treated it like practice, just threw the tournament out the window, go and try and work on what you’ve been working on on the range and go from there. “It was sort of touch-and-go
