Via Sportsnet With 8:37 to go in the second period, Arizona Coyotes forward Brad Richardson collided with Nikita Tryamkin of the Vancouver Canucks.
Richardson immediately dropped to the ice, threw off his gloves and appeared to grab his face. From the initial overhead shot on Sportsnet, it looked as if Richardson had taken a stick to the throat or face.
The trainer came out, followed by doctors, and later a stretcher with paramedics. Richardson’s injury became clear as his right leg was stabilized on a pillow; he screamed in pain.
Here’s the video of the collision and injury. If you’re even slightly squeamish, you’ve been warned.

The Coyotes announced Richardson would not return to the game due to a ‘lower body injury.’ He has been transported to a local Vancouver hospital for further evaluation.
