The four-game set between the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates that began Thursday night at PNC Park is drawing a lot of attention from baseball fans.
So much so, that even insects are interested in what will unfold when the Pirates and Giants square up.
The insect in question – a praying mantis*– was so excited for Thursday's game it got up close and personal with some of the Giants.

The praying mantis made its way onto the field before first pitch, crawling around and on a number of players near the dugout before finding a perfect resting spot: Juan Perez's hat.
Best seats in the house!
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review photographer Christopher Horner snapped this great shot of the mantis perched on top of Perez's cap:

Based on what happened after though, it won't be welcomed back to hang out with the Giants anytime soon. San Francisco was shutout in the series opener, losing to the Pirates 4-0.
Is it against the rules to get an insect to rattle the opposing team? If it isn't, don't be shocked to see the praying mantis back in Pittsburgh in the near future.
