The Chicago Blackhawks may be getting highly-touted prospect Teuvo Teravainen sometime soon, but they lost a big piece of their lineup during Wednesday night's 4-0 shutout over the St. Louis Blues.
Midway through the second period, Brendan Morrow bounced off Sheldon Brookbank along the boards and fell on Patrick Kane's left leg. The forward stayed down on the ice before slowly taking himself to the Blackhawks bench:
After the game, Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville said Kane would miss at least three weeks and wasn't sure if he'd be able to return before the end of the regular season.
Kane's been pretty durable during his seven NHL seasons, missing only a total of 12 games, most of which (9) came during the 2010-11 season.
Now the Teravainen talk will heat up even more. But an injury forcing Kane out of the lineup only for a few weeks shouldn't force the Blackhawks to rush the prospect. They already need to do a bit of salary cap maneuvering to bring him into the fold anyway.
