No. 1 Star: Claude Giroux, Philadelphia Flyers
Giroux, the greatest player in the universe (according to Ed Snider), scored two game-tying goals against Washington. His first was a power play goal in the first period after the Caps had gone up 1-0. The second came with the goalie pulled and 1:05 left in the game; tying the score 4-4. The game went into overtime and Vincent Lecavalier completed the Flyers comeback with the OT winner, 5-4 (OT).

No. 2 Star: Scottie Upshall, Florida Panthers
At the end of the second period, the New York Islanders were up on the Florida Panthers 3-1. Whatever was said in the Florida locker room between periods must have been incredibly inspiring (or the Isles were just bad) because Florida came out and scored four unanswered goals - in about 15 minutes. Marcel Goc got them within one, Shawn Matthias tied the game, and Upshall hit the game winner plus an empty-netter to ice the game for Florida, 5-3.

No. 3 Star: Frederik Andersen, Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks were up on the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1 at the close of the second period; goaltender Freddy Andersen had seen 26 shots on goal at that point. The guys in front of him decided to take their foot off the gas pedal for the third, and Carolina racked up 26 more shots for a game total of 52. Andersen saved Anaheim allowing in only three goals in the Ducks 5-3 win. Corey Perry scored two goals and tallied an assist for the Ducks.
Honorable mention: In addition to Giroux, Kimmo Timonen and Jakub Voracek earned three points each in Philly's three goal comeback against the Caps ... Mike Green assisted on three of the four Capitals goals and was a plus-3 ... Admire this Joel Ward pass to Jay Beagle for a goal:

... Since returning to the Sharks lineup, Logan Couture has scored three goals in three games and Raffi Torres has three goals in two games. The latter is a sign of the apocalypse. Sharks beat the Devils on Sunday 4-2. In the same game, Adam Henrique scored his fourth goal in three games by out-skating the Sharks defenseman:

... Despite the Islanders losing, Tomas Vanek increased his trade/contract value today with two goals and an assist ... After trading leads in the first and second periods, the Colorado Avalanche scored four straight goals in the third period (including two empty-netters) to beat the Lightning 6-3 ... Filling in for the injured Mats Zuccarello, J.T. Miller of the Rangers had a breakaway off of a turnover where he added Patrick Kane-esque move to get the puck past Tuukka Rask:

... Ryan Miller's debut for the St. Louis Blues wasn't looking good after he allowed in two goals from Phoenix's fourth line (Paul Bissonnette and Jeff Halpern). Then his new teammates on the Blues finally woke up and scored a goal (their first since coming back from the Olympics) plus three additional goals to get Miller his first win with his new team ... Alexander Semin is fast. Really, really fast with a wicked wrist shot. Hampus Lindholm now knows this firsthand:

Did you know? Thomas Vanek's first goal tonight was the 270th of his career, tying him with Bobby Orr. He surpassed Orr later in the game with his 271st goal.

Dishonorable mention: In the Washington/Philadelphia game, there were two goal reviews initiated by the Situation Room. One was a cut and dry good goal; the other one, not so much. I thought it was a good goal, but the Situation Room felt there wasn't sufficient evidence to agree with me:

... Washington's Dmitry Orlov scored two goals before taking a bonehead major charging penalty as retaliation for a LEGAL Brayden Schenn hit on him. The major lead to a PPG by Voracek putting the Flyers within one goal ... If you haven't seen it already, Daniel Sedin left Sunday's Heritage Classic after taking this nasty spill into the end-boards:

... Another goalie controversy in Vancouver blah blah blah ... Ottawa was livid after Vancouver's second goal because Cory Conacher was clearly high sticked and taken out of the play. It ended up not to matter because Ottawa won 4-2 ... Happy 32nd birthday, Henrik Lundqvist. Your teammates got you a 6-3 loss to the Bruins. At least you're still beautiful and star in my one of my favorite 'This is Sportscenter' commercials ... The Coyotes were livid after the fourth St. Louis goal because Keith Yandle was tripped and the refs missed it:

... Justin Faulk took a hit into the boards from Anaheim's Patrick Maroon in the first period and went directly to the locker room. He did not return because of an upper-body injury.
