This column will concentrate on borderline fantasy options who should get strong consideration to start/bench during the upcoming week based on schedules.
Draymond Green: It’s odd he’s owned in only 78 percent of leagues, although I imagine that number will climb after Green’s monstrous performance Saturday (when he went for 31 points, seven rebounds, three assists, four steals, three blocks and a whopping seven three-pointers against a solid Chicago defense). There might be some trepidation to sit him with David Lee expected to return next week, but there’s zero chance Green is removed from the starting lineup any time soon, and the Warriors face three of their four games next week against teams with a Defensive Efficiency rating No. 18*or lower. After totaling 69 threes over his first two years in the league in 161 games, Green has 36 over 19 games this season. He’s quietly been an elite fantasy player who shouldn’t be leaving your lineup unless something drastic happens.

Gorgui Dieng: He’s owned in just 67 percent of Yahoo leagues, but Minnesota plays four games in Week 7, and Nikola Pekovic remains sidelined. Dieng averaged 12.2 points, 12.0 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 1.7 blocks while shooting 50 percent from the floor over 15 games when starting last season. He hasn’t hit the boards quite as hard this season, but he’s been highly productive nevertheless. In fact, Dieng has been the No. 38 ranked fantasy player on a per-36 minute rate, so he’s going to be extremely valuable as the Timberwolves’ starting center for the foreseeable future (the latest news on Pekovic is he “will play again this season.")*
Terrence Ross: He’s coming off a poor game in which he scored just six points, and Ross is owned in a modest 66 percent of leagues right now. But the Raptors play four games next week, including two against teams in the bottom-six in Defensive Efficiency. Despite the bad game Friday, Ross has averaged 14.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 2.8 3pt since DeMar DeRozan has been out with a groin injury. Ross’ Usage Rate is way up during that span, making him a solid start in Week 7.

Dennis Schroder: Let’s go deeper here, as this is someone available in 96 percent of leagues. The second-year player has averaged 13.3 points, 3.5 assists and 1.0 3 pt while shooting 58.5 percent from the floor over the past six games and recorded four steals during his last contest. The sophomore continues to come off the bench, but Schroder was a top-20 pick last year and has shown major improvement of late. For those in deeper leagues, Schroder is worth a start next week when Atlanta (who sports the No. 4 ranked Offensive Efficiency ranking) plays four games.
Giannis Antetokounmpo: The Greek Freak has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting players in the league,*there’s no question about that. Although it hasn’t quite translated into fantasy value, he’s owned in 76 percent of leagues, but Milwaukee plays just two games next week, so he should be firmly on your bench. The same is true for Jabari Parker, who’s played much better lately (the rookie has been the No. 67 ranked player over the past two weeks), as the two teams the Bucks play both rank inside the top-10 in Defensive Efficiency (the Thunder and Clippers).
