Napoli won their second Coppa Italia in the last three years and fifth overall in a final against Fiorentina that was delayed by a shooting outside Rome's Stadio Olimpico. Three Napoli fans were shot and a policemen was also injured by unknown assailants, though the pistol used in the shooting was found, according to the BBC. Two of the shooting victims only suffered minor injuries, but the third was reportedly shot in the chest.
Once news of the shootings filtered into the stadium, Napoli fans expressed their anger by throwing flares and smoke bombs onto the pitch. This prompted officials to delay the start of the match as Napoli captain Marek Hamsik went to the stands and attempted to calm the fans in the hope that they would allow the match to be played.
Once they agreed to be compliant, the game began and Napoli jumped out to a 2-0 lead within the first 20 minutes. Fiorentina scored a goal of their own in the 28th minute, but even though Napoli went down to 10 men in the 79th minute when Gokhan Inler was sent off, they still managed to score again in added time and win 3-1 to help Rafa Benitez claim his first trophy with the club.
After the game, Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis dedicated the trophy to the fan who was shot. From Football Italia:
“We dedicate this win to the city of Naples, including the Neapolitan who was unfortunately involved in a shooting incident and we thank the authorities who rushed him to hospital and saved his life,” ADL told Rai Sport.
Police stood back and let Napoli fans invade the pitch after the game to avoid any further trouble, but one supporter who did so decided to hug goalkeeper Pepe Reina in a strange way...

But hey, stuff happens when you win the Coppa Italia.
