Memphis football helmet (AP) Memphis freshman Tony Pollard made history Thursday night when he ran a kickoff back 95 yards for a touchdown. It was the first kickoff return for a touchdown for the Tigers since Nov. 9, 1996.

The 233 games marked the longest streak of any college football program between kickoff returns for a touchdown. It had not happened since Kevin Cobb did it against No. 7 Tennessee en route to an upset.

Pollard touchdown gave the Tigers a 34-20 lead after trailing at halftime.
