After five seasons in the New Jersey Devils organization, Ari Ahonen headed back to Europe and for the last three years has played in the KHL for Metallurg Magnitogorsk and now Barys Astana. On Friday, while facing off with CSKA Moscow, Ahonen entered into the save of the year race with this blind robbery of Alex Radulov:
Somehow, through the sets of legs in front of him, Ahonen saw the shot coming and just extended his glove hoping the puck would find it, and it did.
Ahonen and Metallurg would fall, however, 3-0. Radulov would get his revenge for the great save by starting a three-goal third period for CSKA and ending it with an assist on an empty-netter.
