Hunter Pence of the San Francisco Giants reported a crime via Twitter on Sunday night:
Ahhhh someone stole my scooter! :(
— Hunter Pence (@hunterpence) May 26, 2014
It's the same custom scooter that has become regionally famous as Pence's basic transportation to and from the ballpark. So popular is Pence's scooter, which is personalized with his name and uniform number in Giants team colors, it spawned a bobblehead day April 9 at AT&T Park. It really is the perfect mode of transportation for Pence, who's just... different.
Several Giants players ride scooters — going back to Brian Wilson (of course) — and Casey Pratt of CSN Bay Area reported last year where they get them: The team's chef, Joe Day, builds them as a hobby.
So, if Pence is correct that his was stolen, someone apparently fell in love with the scooter a little too much. He did not say immediately if the scooter had been taken from the ballpark, where security would be relatively tight, but given the late hour of Pence's tweet, it probably happened when he was out and about.
Not long after making his announcement, support poured in from the public:
@hunterpence don't worry hunter. We gotcha pic.twitter.com/vCCVMSW187

And:
With all of these vigilante Liam Neesons and Mel Gibsons canvassing the Bay Area for Pence's scooter, it probably won't be long until it turns up. Hopefully intact. Whoever you are, you won't get far: The scooter maxes out at 25 mph. Chump.
