A'S GET WALK-OFF WIN, MARINERS GET FIRST LOSS: After sweeping the Los Angeles Angels with ease, the Seattle Mariners headed to Oakland, looking to remain one of the few undefeated teams in MLB. It took 12 innings and a walk-off homer from Coco Crisp, but the Oakland Athletics put one in Seattle's loss column, pulling out a 3-2 victory. Crisp also scored the game-tying run in the eighth inning, on a Yoesnis Cespedes triple.
Coco: "I stepped out and was going to go back to my normal approach. Then I was like, ‘Nah, I’m just gonna let it fly again.’"

The win wrapped up a busy couple of days for the A's, who split a day-night doubleheader Wednesday against the Cleveland Indians
30 innings in 35 hours for the A's. "A little bit of will involved today," Melvin says.

There was a quick review of Crisp's homer after the game. It was obviously upheld, but that didn't compare to the review earlier in the game on another would-be homer. Sam Fuld was attempting an inside-the-parker, but was thrown out after a nice Mariners relay.
The umpires called for a review, not to check out Fuld, who was out by a foot, but to check whether Mariners catcher Mike Zunino had violated the new rules about blocking home plate. He hadn't. The review, however, took quite a while, as you'll see in this nearly six-minute clip.

The Washington Nationals (3-0) and Detroit Tigers (2-0) remain the only undefeated teams in MLB now. The Tigers had their Thursday game postponed because of rain.
PAUL GOLDSCHMIDT CONTINUES TO OWN TIM LINCECUM, BUT GIANTS TOP D-BACKS:* Mustache or no mustache, Tim Lincecum can't master Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Paul Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt had two hits against the San Francisco Giants starter Thursday, including a two-run homer. He's now 11-for-21 for his career against Lincecum, with six (!!) homers.
The good news for the Giants was that their bats had plenty of homers too — Brandon Belt and Brandon Hicks hit solo homers, and Angel Pagan hit a three-run jack in the eighth that broke a 5-5 tie and gave the Giants the 8-5 win.*

TWINS GET A COLD WIN FUELED BY HOT COLABELLO: It was a cold, cold day in Chicago, so cold (33 degrees with 19 mph winds) that the White Sox offered replacement tickets to fans so they can come to another game. But it was a hot day at the plate for Chris Colabello, the first baseman for the opposing Minnesota Twins, who drove in six runs. The Twins won the game 10-9, and needed a late rally to do it despite Colabello's RBI prowess.*Oswaldo Arcia tripled in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning, plating Trevor Plouffe, who had tied the game with an RBI single.
THE CUBS WIN THEIR FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON: The Chicago Cubs, those (maybe) lovable (definite) losers, got their first win of the 2014 season Thursday, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2. The Cubs winning isn't all that huge of a deal, considering they were only playing their third game of the season. This is more about the way they won. It was probably the most Cubs win that the Cubs will have this season. Junior Lake wore the wrong jersey at the start of the game, then the Cubs closer ran into the catcher in the ninth inning. It was pretty funny. But, hey, if that's what it takes to win.
