Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Frederik Andersen isn’t one to shy away from eye-catching masks, and as he and his team prepare to face the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night, his headwear is drawing attention once again.
The Leafs will line up against the Western Conference leaders in throwback St. Pats sweaters, in recognition of the the teams of 1919–27. Andersen is taking the green and white dress-code switch seriously.

Last year, the netminder unveiled a Lego Batman mask, a nod to his native Denmark, where the building blocks originate, featuring Maple Leafs logos on either side emblazoned with “100” to mark the*team’s centennial season.
Having fun while honouring the past —*isn’t that what’s St. Patrick’s Day is all about? The Blue Knight Rises…. and he is watching over his city, the Toronto city…???? To paint and create Storyteller masks for my friend Frederik Andersen is as always a joyride????????. And the closer you come to the mask the more into the story you will come… I just love to create the details in the paintings. His masks with this cool dude is a tribute to his home country of Denmark…???????? @frederikandersen31 @nhl #DaveArt @mapleleafs #nhl #DaveArtCreativity #DaveArtTheGameChanger @bauergoalie
