Michael Waltrip Racing has tabbed Elliott Sadler to drive the final four races of the season in the No. 55 after Brian Vickers was sidelined because of a blood clot in his right calf.
“Elliott has all the attributes we were looking for. He’s experienced, familiar with Toyota, has a great attitude plus he’s a heck of a driver,” Waltrip said in a statement. “We’ll pair him with Scott Miller and the No. 55 guys and I know they’ll have the Aaron’s Dream Machine at the front of the field. I also want to thank everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota for letting us borrow Elliott for a few races.”
You may remember that Sadler was set to drive part time in the No. 55 in 2012, but after a discussion with Richard Childress, his Nationwide owner at the time, Sadler didn't get behind the wheel of MWR's car.

Childress fields Chevrolets. Joe Gibbs Racing, Sadler's team in the Nationwide Series this year, drives Toyotas like MWR. Manufacturer problem solved. Also, Vickers is Sadler's teammate in the Nationwide Series. JGR has not announced a replacement for him for the final three Nationwide races of the year.
Sadler, 38, has made one Sprint Cup Series each of the past two years until this point. His start this season was at Kansas, where he crashed and finished 40th. The plans for additional races with sponsor Alert Energy Gum were scrapped when the gum was pulled from store shelves. Thankfully. That gum was horrid.
