Colorado Rockies outfielders spent the better part of the last three days chasing baseballs hit by the Texas Rangers all over Coors Field. In fact, throughout the three-game series the Rangers combined for 26 runs on 37 hits overall, including 13 extra-base hits and even a cycle for Shin-Soo Choo on Tuesday night.
By any statistical measure, that's*a lot of jogging at one mile above sea level. By the ninth inning on Wednesday afternoon we're guessing they were more than ready to take off their cleats and move on to Thursday's off day.*And it's with that very thought in mind that we can't honestly blame Carlos Gonzalez for getting a little bit lazy, a lot creative and even a bit comical in his attempt to corral Rougned Odor's rocket foul ball.*
Ugh. That never works. http://t.co/9Nc5gR1LFN pic.twitter.com/CjyOZJOYpH

Indeed, he resorted to the glove toss, which for many of us was the signature defensive technique of our youth.*
As an interesting aside to this, Odor was actually going for a cycle himself, which would have made it consecutive days for Rangers batters. He came pretty close too as he whistled John Axford's 0-2 pitch into the right-field corner for what would have been an easy double, or perhaps even a second triple if he wanted it. However, the ball ended up hooking foul and bounding off the high padded walls, before shooting along the warning track.
It's at that point that Gonzalez goes into pursuit, which in turn leads to the unintentional comedy.*As he approaches the wall, he seems to realize the baseball isn't losing any steam. He also knows he's already committed to running it down and everybody's watching, so rather than embarrass himself with real effort he goes to the glove toss.

Again, we've all been there, so we can't really judge.*
Of course, another key here is that the ball*was indeed foul. Otherwise we'd have a much different story on our hands. And by different we mean much more embarrassing and one-hundred percent more Rockies.*

Oh, and by the way, the Rangers did win Wednesday 10-8.*
